More From The Press Q&A: Kat Graham On Bonnie, Steven R. McQueen On Jeremy

The Last Dance

Also at yesterday’s press Q&A following the screening of tonight’s episode “The Last Day,” Kat Graham spoke of her role of Bonnie this season and Steven R. McQueen talked a bit about Jeremy’s current predicament.

Graham noted that she thinks that showrunners Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson wrote Season 2 “so beautifully,” and specifically, they “wrote Bonnie’s storyline so amazingly.”

“They gave her such a vulnerable perspective with everything, and had her show her weaknesses and show her strength, and I’m really happy at the way she’s turned out,” Kat says. “[We] got to see some of her family this season, and a relationship… everything I could have dreamed for Bonnie happened this season. So I am so excited to just move forward and see what they have. Even just watching it, just as an audience member watching an episode whether I’m in it or not, there were so many incredible moments for all of the characters, that I feel completely safe with them.”

Julie Plec interjected that some of Bonnie’s best moments are yet to come. “Having just locked picture on Episode 21, which is the next episode, I can say that Ms. Kat Graham is at her most fierce in that episode. Bad ass fierce. It’s cool!” she teases.

“It’s good to have a female writer, though, and a strong woman who is a part of the team who is spearheaded everything forward. It makes a difference,” Kat adds.

The actress was quite aware of the fan reaction when it seemed Bonnie lived her final moments in the recent episode “The Last Dance.” “I love my fans. They call themselves the Fanerinas. They’re sweet, and they’re young, but they’re vicious,” Kat says. “Everyone was crying [during] the commercial break, and Bonnie was trending worldwide on Twitter,” she says, before Steven R. McQueen shakes his head, grins, and sighs “Twitter.” “I don’t know what trending means,” he admits, still being unfamiliar with the Twitter phenomenon.

As for McQueen’s character of Jeremy, it’s been a tough time as of late, with his girlfriend nearly dying, his sister nearly dying, and family drama all around. “He’s screwed,” McQueen laughs. “He knows; he’s aware of everything around him, and he’s trying to do everything he can to protect them, but he’s just on a different level of strength, and there’s just not much he can do, but he will constantly keep moving forward to try to protect everyone he loves. But he could only take it so far.”

A new Vampire Diaries – sadly, without Bonnie and Jeremy – airs tonight at 8PM (ET) on The CW!
