UPDATED 12/21/09: E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos has revealed that when The Vampire Diaries returns on January 21, Mia Kirshner (The L Word) will be joining the cast for a recurring role as Isobel, the wife of Alaric Saltzman.
- Her scenes in the January 21 episode will not be in present-day. They're flashbacks, because it seems Isobel is already dead. Dos Santos says that Isobel died at the hands of a main (hot) character we already know. She also says "you can bet that Alaric is in town for some sort of sweet revenge," and that Aunt Jenna still has a chance at love with Alaric.
